Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in Kankakee County convicted of crimes against children

There were nine offenders convicted of crimes against children released on parole in Kankakee County during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kankakee Times.

The data shows that all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against children was 44. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 58-year-old man sentenced in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Nivaldo Cielo. He was convicted in 2014 when he was 38 years old. He is now 43.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of crimes against children were paroled during the fourth quarter of 2018 in each Illinois county.
