Kankakee School District 111 Board of Education met Feb. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

ROLL CALL

Members present: Mary Archie

Christopher Bohlen

Jess Gathing, Jr. Vice President

Deb Johnston

Angela Shea, Secretary

Barbara Wells, President

Darrell Williams

Members Absent: All Present

A quorum was declared present.

Closed Session

At 6:09 p.m. a motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Johnston to adjourn to closed session to discuss litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that the action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the minutes of the closed meeting. ROLL CALL VOTE-Ayes: Archie, Bohlen, Gathing, Johnston, Shea, Williams, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.

The closed session was adjourned at 6:27 p.m.

At 6:33 p.m., the regular session was reconvened.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Barbara Wells, Board President.

Meeting with the Board were:

Dr. Kathleen O’Connor, Assistant Superintendent Robert Grossi, Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Genevra Walters, Superintendent

Rachel Thornton, Recording Secretary

Chris Breech, a reporter from the Daily Journal was present.

1. Approval of Administrative Appointments as presented.

A motion was made by Shea, seconded by Johnston to approve the administrative appointments as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE- AYES: Archie, Bohlen, Gathing, Johnston, Shea, Williams, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried

Mr. Gathing made a motion to unify Action Items two, three, and four.

A motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Johnston to unify Action Items two, three and four. ROLL CALL VOTE-AYES: Bohlen, Gathing, Johnston, Shea, Williams, Archie, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Mr. Grossi discussed where the funds were coming from for the mechanical work at all three buildings.

2. Approval of Bid for Mechanical Work at Lincoln Cultural Center.

3. Approval of Bid for Mechanical Work at Taft Primary School No.1.

4. Approval of Bid for Mechanical Work at Steuben Elementary School No. 2.

A motion was made by Bohlen, seconded by Gathing to approve the bid for mechanical work at Lincoln Cultural Center, Taft Primary School, and Steuben Elementary as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE- AYES: Gathing, Johnston, Shea, Williams, Archie, Bohlen, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Mrs. Shea made a motion to unify Action items five and six.

A motion was made by Shea and seconded by Bohlen to unify the Action Items five and six. ROLL CALL VOTE: Johnston, Shea, Williams, Archie, Bohlen, Gathing, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.

5. Consideration to Approve or Reject the Settlement for Case NO. CND-IL-2017-17834-22148

6. Consideration to the Counter-Offer of Waiving the BIll of Cost & Provide a Neutral Reference for Case NO. CND-IL-2017-17834-22148.

A motion was made by Bohlen, seconded by Gathing to table Action Items five and six. ROLL CALL VOTE- AYES: Shea, Williams, Archie Bohlen, Gathing, Johnston, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried

At 6:48 p.m., a motion was made by Bohlen, seconded by Archie, to adjourn the meeting. All ayes; motion carried.
