Illinois State House District 79 issued the following announcement on June 22
State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. The event is Tuesday, June 30th from 1:00—5:00pm at the Kankakee Area YMCA, 1075 Kennedy Dr.
Representative Parkhurst’s Blood Drive helps local blood banks increase their supply amid the countless cancelled blood drives across Illinois this spring and summer. The upcoming drive will help mitigate the blood shortage that affected the state over the course COVID.
“There is a huge need for blood right now in our community and statewide,” said Rep. Parkhurst. “When you donate blood, you help save lives. This event will be an important step toward preventing any further shortages, and I am looking forward to seeing our community stepping up to help.”
Walk-ins will be welcome, but an appointment is preferred. To schedule an appointment, contact Rep. Parkhurst’s office at (815) 523-7779. At the event, check-ins Is at the North West door and donations are in the all-purpose room.
Rep. Parkhurst encourages everyone to come in with a mask and practice social distancing upon arrival.
