City of Momence City Council met May 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2020 council meeting.

Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during open session. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM –

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Cope indicated that Heritage Days will be moved to September 26 due to Covid-19. Everything will stay the same. Alderman Cope made motion to approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Cope – neighbors complaining about the condition of the sidewalks. Is there any money available in the budget? Alderman Salomone indicated that the 20/21 budget is in the works, we may need to see which are the worst and work from there.

Alderman Carbonaro – Carrie Navratil can she be on the list for pot holes? 5th/Franklin

Alderman Salomone – working on the 20/21 budget. This is the first meeting of the fiscal year. He will be meeting with the department heads. Sidewalks will be added as worst needed first. BF will not be scheduled due to Covid-19

Treasurer report – everything is up to date

Department Heads – Scott – 96000.00 MFT money turned over to the Tyson to tar/chip the around the church.

MAYORAL REPORT –

Two more liquor licenses to approve:

Thirsty Aces – Class A&B

El Rio – Class F

Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Time for appointments – all will remain the same from last year. Alderman Metz made a motion to approve, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Requesting to hold on any future purchases. We are not affected yet, but could be in the next few months. We are not sure how much this will/could affect us will the shutdown. All aldermen were in agreement.

4th of July, could change date for small fees. Holding off until we know more of what is going to happen. Can let the company know as of 1 week prior to the event.

Farmer’s Market will start on June 17

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM
