County of Iroquois issued the following announcement on July 24.
Iroquois County 9-1-1 has an opening for a Full-Time Telecommunicator. The 911 center is responsible for coordination of all Police, Fire, and EMS services within Iroquois County. Telecommunicators are required to make quick decisions, multi-tasking and respond to all individuals, at all levels, in a courteous, calm, and professional demeanor.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least twenty-one (21) years of age
Flexibility to work any of the 3 shifts: including weekends, holidays, and overtime (majority will be mandatory)
Must be able to use a headset 8+ hours per day
Multi-tasking is paramount
Must pass drug screening and background checks
Must be able to accurately type 35 words per minute
Must live within 50 miles from 1001 E Grant, Watseka, IL 60970
Must possess a Valid Driver’s License
No person convicted of a misdemeanor or a felony is eligible for hire as a Telecommunicator
1 year probationary period
