Kankakee County Sheriff issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
Earlier this morning, the Official Facebook page administered by Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner on behalf of his office was shut down by Facebook without any notice or reasoning after Coroner Gessner listed local COVID-19 data (all factual data, no personal opinions, etc.).
While Coroner Gessner awaits word from Facebook on his request for appeal to that decision, Sheriff Mike Downey utilized his ‘Get Out of Facebook Jail Free’ powers to free Coroner Gessner.
In all seriousness, we applaud Coroner Bob Gessner for continuing to provide the Kankakee County community with unbiased data, free of personal opinions, and we hope that Facebook eventually does, as well.
