City of Momence City Council met Jan. 18

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held via Zoom. Mayor Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cook, Rehmer and Cope. Alderman Temple was absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of the, January 4, 2021, council meeting. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment with the addition of the insurance bill in the amount of $16081.63. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, and Cope voting yes.

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Salomone – 5 students from Olivet working on the project Alderman Metz – Baxter Woodman meeting, things moving forward quickly

ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Cope – 108 Market Street off street parking ordinance. Alderman Rehmer disagreed, not City job to provide off street parking. Alderman Cope made motion to approve, Alderman Cook seconded the motion. Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark and Rehmer voting no. Aldermen Cope and Cook voting yes. Motion denied. Alderman Cope suggested maybe redo the ordinance to remove all parking signs.

Alderman Cope – asked Chief Brucato about 310 River Street, garbage still there. Chief indicated that no fines issued, recommends a lien.

Alderman Rehmer wanted to thank Officer Gab Velaquez for assisting his Aunt with shoveling her walk. He went above and beyond his duty.

Alderman Salomone - BF February 1, 7:15 P.M.

Treasurer report –

Department Heads –

MAYORAL REPORT – Graves has tickets on property on 6th Street in the amount of $3025.00. He is trying to sell the house, would like fines reduced for the sale. These are sitting in I-drop at this time. Alderman Cook made a motion to decline the reduction of the fines, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion to decline the reduction of fines with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook and Rehmer voting to decline the reduction of fines.

Mayor Steele requested an executive session to discuss employment and compensation of specific employees of the public body, to come out and do business.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn to executive session, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, and Rehmer voting yes.

Meeting adjourned to executive session 8:05 PM

Council rejoined open session 8:15 PM.

Alderman Cook made a motion to approve department head raises at 2% increase. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook and Rehmer voting yes.

Alderman Metz made motion to adjourn. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook and Rehmer voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:17 PM
