City of Momence City Council Met Feb. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held via Zoom. Mayor Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Metz. Clark, Temple, Rehmer and Cope. Aldermen Carbonaro and Cook were absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the minutes of the, February 1, 2021, council meeting. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes.

OLD BUSINESS –Alderman Cope – more street signs will be needed than first thought, working on a list on streets.

Alderman Salomone – Olivet team came to Momence for a couple hours, took a tour of the city. The team is working on 4 different style guides. Jake is looking for some input/thoughts from local improvement or residents on certain things.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Salomone – Budget and Finance March 1, 7:15 PM. Baxter and Woodman – draft of financial document sent out to all Alderman, bring page 8 to everyone’s attention. They ran the numbers for gallons/dollars for industry and residential. Break even rate $2.90 is what should be charged for water, only a $1.30 is what is being charged currently for industry. Residential is $2.25 should be charged, $1.35 currently charged. On the sewer side…industry $6.42 should be charged, $2.59 currently charged. Baxter and Woodman are still working through a few more things. Looking at changing rates soon.

Also, working on credit card points, looking at $1000.00. This will be spread between 5 accounts using the card.

Tina – estimating water bills for February due to weather

MAYORAL REPORT – State notice on Census – highest feedback in the area

Heat issues in City Hall – heat exchanger had to be replaced, boiler needs to be replaced soon

Scott, Mark and Mayor have been dealing with Baxter and Woodman, there is a lot of work to be done. There will be more expenses that will be incurred with dealing with EPA violations. There is a facility plan that is being worked on, hoping by the next meeting there will be more information on the costs.

Equipment that will need to be repaired at the PD, looking at going with another company possibly. More info to come by next meeting.

Next meeting will be in person, March 1

Baxter and Woodman may have some info to do a presentation at the next meeting.

Alderman Rehmer made motion to adjourn. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 7:53 PM
