City of Watseka Water/Wastewater Committee met May 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

1. Call to order

2. Roll Call

3. Public Comment

4. Water/Waste Water report

• Sludge and Grit removal will be needed on the Oxidation ditch project prior to construction

• A purchase was made RAS and WAS pumps for the plant at a cost of $31,614.This price  does not include any labor or other parts needed for the project. These pumps are the heart of the plant and needed for daily operation

• Also purchased was a new pump for the non-potable water system. This water systems purpose is to bring carrier water to the plant for fecal coliform disinfection. The price for this pump was $11,950.

5. Drinking Water

• The west water tower is bank in service. Although the current recirculation system has  consistently failed, another solution has been found. Putting an “in-tank” mixer would alleviate the problem of the tower freezing during the winter months. The quote for that is $35,421.06. This doesn’t need to be purchased right away but would be essential for operations prior to this winter.

• There are 2 quotes with our report from G.I.S. so the committee can take time to look  them over. This is what we have discussed to put all of the City’s maps on an electronic platform to include but not limited to location, pipe, size, pipe material and depth.

• Currently, all materials including meters and pipe for our industry are on a 5-6 month lead time. Due to this information we have purchased several extra boxes of meters and some pipe as well.

• Miscellaneous Items

a) wage increases

5. Work Report

6. Other

a) Committee Members Inquires

7. Adjourn
