City of Momence Ordinance Committee met March 1

The Ordinance Committee meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.
Present: Chairman Alderman Cope and committee members Aldermen Metz, Carbonaro and Rehmer present. Also present were Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Temple and Mayor Steele.
Alderman Cope called the meeting to order, wanting to discuss the social media presence for the city. Olivet has come in to assist but we need to have a policy in order. Students will not be posting, but possibly creating a new page. Possibly a City Facebook page and the City website to be more user friendly. Scheduled posts are a possibility, with an internal review. Screen shots will need to be taken for FOIA reasons. There is potentially a lot of benefit that come from this, news can be shared on this page(s). On Facebook, this would not be a page to join but to only read city happenings/info. Also, adding comments would not be monitored/accepted. Concerns would be: who would be running this, what’s this going to look like, etc…content would be created and scheduled. An internal review would be completed with a final approval from the Mayor prior to posting.
Multi-unit building with water bills outstanding…thoughts on this? Attorney is recommending to leave as is. Tina has sent registered letters to the owner; no response has been received. Should landlords be held responsible? This will be added onto the agenda again.
