City of Watseka Liquor Committee met March 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Mayor Allhands, Aldermen Garfield, Barragree, Cahoe and Alderwoman Ulfers 

GUEST: Chuck Gomez with the Watseka Theatre

Mayor Allhands opened the meeting at 6:18 pm. During Public Comment Mr. Gomez from the Watseka Theatre spoke about his $1200.00 liquor license that he got last year and feels that it was the wrong license for his business as he isn’t open daily and no longer has a café. He would like for the city to reimburse him for last years fees. As for this year he is requesting a special event license because as of now he only has 2 shows booked. Mr. Gomez thanked the committee for there time and left. Mayor Allhands stated the special event license only covers beer and wine and he has hard liquor. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to have Attorney Cainkar add to the current liquor license another special event license that can have hard liquor added and the fee will be $50.00 per event. Mayor Allhands will get in touch with Attorney Cainkar.

The committee looked over the list of liquor applications and noted some have not been turned in yet and not paid for. Alderman Garfield makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept all liquor license applications contingent on payment and Alderwoman Ulfers seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

The committee looked over the list of cigarette applications and noted some have not been turned in yet and not paid for. Alderman Garfield makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept all cigarette applications contingent on payment and Alderwoman Ulfers seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

The committee looked over the list of gaming applications and noted some have not been turned in yet and not paid for. Alderwoman Ulfers makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept all gaming applications contingent on payment and Alderman Garfield seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

The committee looked over the 1 raffle license and it’s been paid. Alderman Garfield makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the raffle application and Alderman Marcier seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

Alderman Garfield makes a motion to adjourn at 6:39 pm and Alderwoman Ulfers seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.
