Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met Feb. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

6:30PM Meeting called to Order/ Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all members present, except Ms. Bruni

*Motion to approve previous 1/17/23 meeting minutes

      Motion: Morgan      2nd: Wiedl       Motion Carried 5-0-0

Public Comments: Jane Johnson inquired concerning the Village lawyer communication with Pres. Hawkins concerning the former Pepin House. Ms. Johnson advised of a notebook of info concerning the home, and communication with the Land Bank. Pres Hawkins stated she had received communication with the lawyer, but has not pursued anything to date. Ms. Johnson responded asking for help on how to proceed on being able to purchase the residence.

Law Enforcement, Danahey:

Fulltime Officer Lauren Sheehan was sworn in to office by Clerk Dillman

*Vote to authorize purchasing a police vehicle not to exceed $45,000

Discussion held concerning calculations for fulltime employees

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <1/28/23 General Fund $28,954.02, Fest Fund $1,125.20, Am Rescue Plan $700.00, TIF Fund $35,841.84 Payroll <1/21/23 $15,629.65, Stipend $1,200.00

      Motion: Morgan         2nd: Danahey        Motion Carried 5-0-0

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Attorney report: Pres Hawkins received notice of attorney fees increasing in May

Streets & Alleys, Coats: no reports

Finance, Morgan: Discussion held concerning a sales tax increase

*Motion to approve the revenue budget for FY24

       Motion: Morgan       2nd: Raloff       Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to approve General Fund departmental expenditure budget totals

       Motion: Morgan      2nd: Raloff       Motion Carried 5-0-0

Community Outreach, Wiedl: stated that so far, a great response has been received for the 2/11/23    Cabin Fever Reliever….many raffle baskets, cash donations, and more

Building & Grounds, Bruni: absent, no report

Ordinance & Insurance, Raloff: reported a Workman’s Comp claim has been filed for a police officer

*First reading of updates held to Ordinance O-2-23-1 “Business License” Village code 3-1-1  -  3-1-7

Pres Hawkins: Discussion, and approval to host belated Village Christmas Party 3/12/23

         Voice vote, approved

*Motion to increase Village employees $1.00/hr, effective 1/1/23

*Motion to approve changes to employee handbook

     Motion: Danahey     2Nd :Coats     Motion Carried 5-0-0
