City of Watseka Liquor Committee met March 14

City of Watseka Liquor Committee met March 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Mayor Allhands, Aldermen Cahoe, Barragree, Marcier and Garfield

Mayor Allhands opened the meeting at 6:00 pm. There was no public comment. He stated the reason for the meeting was to approve the liquor, gaming and cigarette licenses for the upcoming fiscal year. Each member had a copy of the list of applications. It was stated that everyone has paid except for Berkots and there check has been mailed. Watseka Shell has paid but are still waiting on the background check for there store manager. It was also stated that Gregs Bar and Grill will be closing at the end of April and Bootleggers is closed now, so the total of licenses available will be reduced. Alderman Marcier makes a motion recommend to the Council to accept the liquor licenses for the fiscal year 2023-2024 and Alderman Garfield seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

Gaming applications have been turned in and all paid for. Alderman Garfield makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the gaming applications for the fiscal year 2023-2024 and Alderman Barragree seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

Cigarette applications have been turned in and all paid for. Alderman Barragree makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the cigarette applications for the fiscal year 2023-2024 and Alderman Garfield seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

Mayor Allhands stated there is one raffle license for the Elks. Alderman Marcier makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the raffle license for the fiscal year 2023-2024 and Alderman Barragree seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.

Mayor Allhands stated the Watseka Family Festival will be at finance next week to request to have their street dance on July 1st at Kay Park and will be requesting to close that part of the road off. The committee was in agreement that they are not in favor of alcohol in a park. They suggested Legion Park, 1st Trust Parking Lot, 3rd and Oak St Parking Lot, or the parking lot across from Napa on Oak St.

Alderman Barragree makes a motion to adjourn at 6:12 pm and Alderman Garfield seconded. Roll call carried 5-0.
