Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met July 3.

6:30PM Meeting called to Order / Pledge
Roll Call was taken, all members present
*Motion to approve minutes from previous 6/20/23 meeting

Public Comments:
Carl Frey asked that the Board consider another payroll service option, due to recent activities. Also asked the Board if we have a sufficient “checks and balances” in place
Sylvia Danahey referenced Ordinance O-1-15-1, directed to the Village President, relating to a speaker to be given 3 minutes to speak. The issue spoken about, is that some speakers are given more than the allotted 3 minutes, referring to lately giving 30 and 40 minutes to speak. Trustee Danahey threatened Village President Hawkins with civil action if her actions don’t change.
John Antonetti asked about the construction on the sidewalk out by Casey’s; the need, cost, and lack of timely work being done. Pres. Hawkins will get back to him on the Villages cost share
Valgene Raloff, representing the Historical Society, stated the Old School House will be open 9-12 Sept. 9th during the Fest. Also the Golf outing will be 9/16/23 at Minne Monesse
Josh and Lisa Woodhall spoke, directing their comments to Ms. Wield, concerned to the lack of handicap access in her place of business, Traxx Bar & Grill. Pres. Hawkins replied that this is a private matter, and the Village does not have jurisdiction on this matter, but will look into ADA compliance with all businesses in town.

Clerk Dillman: no report
Atty. report: Mike Santschi in attendance, no report
Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: no report
Streets & Alleys, Danahey: suggested discussion on hiring a payroll service. She will get information pertaining to this service. Also suggested cameras are installed at the Village Hall, inside and out. She will get information pertaining to having these installed.
Finance, Morgan: no report
Community Outreach, Detloff: asked that Mr. Hubbard, treasurer attend a meeting
Building & Grounds, Bruni: reported someone has been hired to clean and overlook the Community Center. Suggested by Pres. Hawkins
Law Enforcement, Whorrall: reported 143 calls in June, new Police vehicles have been received. Ms. Whorrall and Chief Frey spoke of their plans for the G.P. Fest Burn out contest; baby crawl, little kids race, and burn out contest.
Pres. Hawkins: discussed plans for G.P. Fest: Friday activities at park. Trustee Weidl stated she will not be volunteering because she is not on the committee.(when asked about Mr. & Mrs pumpkin presentation.) Sat; street party located on West Taylor street, Sunday; Car Show, bean bag tournament, Burn out contest.
