Senator Thomas M. Bennett recently announced a significant capital investment in Incobrasa Industries' soybean manufacturing facility in Gilman, Illinois. The $250 million investment will see the construction of a 170,000 square foot biodiesel production plant and a 60-acre solar array to power the facility. This expansion is expected to more than double Incobrasa's production capacity by 2030.
As the leader in soybean production, Illinois is well-positioned to capitalize on creating more jobs, boosting the economy, and meeting the growing demand for high-blend renewable fuel. Senator Bennett emphasized the importance of investing in plants like Incobrasa to ensure that the state can meet these demands. The project is also supported by the EDGE tax credit, further bolstering the company's investment.
The investment in Incobrasa Industries is not only beneficial for the local community but also for the environment. The 7.5 MW solar array, supported by a million-dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Energy for America Program, will save the business over $1.21 million annually and replace 12.46 million kWh of power, enough to power 1,149 homes.
This project is expected to create permanent jobs, including construction and installation, for workers in Iroquois County and the surrounding region. Aluizio Ribeiro, President and CEO of Incobrasa, expressed gratitude for the EDGE tax credit, which will enable the expansion of their workforce and their collaboration with local farmers.
Senator Thomas M. Bennett, who represents the 53rd Senate District, played a key role in announcing this major investment. With his background in education and IT, as well as his experience as an elected official, Senator Bennett is dedicated to promoting economic development and supporting businesses that invest in Illinois communities.
