City of Momence City Council met Nov. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna present. Aldermen Doody and Huddelston was absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of November 6, correction noted. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Vela seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM – Curt Ralston complaint about river dam

Steve Gross – Christmas Gathering requesting closure of East and West Washington Steet, Saturday December 2 from 10 AM – 2 PM. Alderman Cook made motion to approve. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Old Business – Alderman Cook – business in town is questioning Covid money. Clerk to look for meeting minutes to verify

Aldermanic – Alderman Temple requested executive session to discuss employment and compensation possibly to come out to do business.

Alderman Lesyna – licensing ordinance. Corrections have been made on page 2 for outside contractors. Also updated to show all businesses should show proof of insurance. Alderman Lesyna made motion to approve. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Department Heads – Scott –working on leaves,

Tina – treasurer is working on balancing. Auditors coming to look at files.

Chief Siemson – Crime/violence training was conducted at Baker and Taylor.

Treasurer report –

MAYORAL REPORT – worker compensation renewal with George Ryan Insurance. There is an increase of 7%, total of $185011.00. They require 25% down, then a monthly payment. Alderman Lesyna made motion to approve. Alderman Fordahl seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Cannot vote on budget, there are still a few questions. Next meeting there will be a vote on budget and levy. Christy Ritter and Tanya Fordahl will assist with the Christmas Gathering.

Requested a motion to move into executive session.

Alderman Cook made motion to move into executive session. Alderman Lesyna seconded the motion with Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Adjourned to executive session 7:52 PM

Returned to open session 8:15 PM

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn. Alderman Temple seconded the motion Aldermen Vela, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM
