City of Watseka Liquor Committee met Sept. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Mayor Allhands, Aldermen Cahoe, Marcier, Muench 

ABSENT: Alderman Barragree 

Mayor Allhands opened the meeting at 6:00 pm. There was no public comment. Mayor Allhands stated the reason for the meeting was to give Elizabeth McTaggart a liquor license for her newly acquired business at 131 E Walnut St. This is going to be a bookstore, and she wants the ability to serve wine in the evening. Mayor Allhands stated she is not interested in having gaming machines. She would need a class A-1 Mixed license. Mayor Allhands stated per Attorney Cainkar since this is a corporation per state statute, she does not need to have a manager living in the city. Alderman Marcier makes a motion to recommend to the council to give Elizabeth McTaggart a Class A-1 Mixed liquor license for her business at 131 E Walnut St. and Alderman Muench seconded. Roll call carried 3-1 with Alderman Cahoe voting no. Alderman Cahoe questioned the no manager living in the city limits issue. 

Mayor Allhands makes a motion to adjourn at 6:05 pm and Alderman Muench seconded. Roll call carried 4-0.
