City of Momence City Council met Nov. 4.

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.
ROLL CALL
Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna present.
APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of October 21, 2024. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
APPROVAL OF THE BILLS
Alderman Doody made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
CITIZENS FOROM – Christy Ritter – the first Momence Community Holiday dinner has been set for December 14, 3PM – 7PM at 21 North. Tanny Hernandez has donated the use of the banquet hall. This will be provided with donations and looking for assistance with serving.
Old Business –
Aldermanic – Alderman Doody – BF meeting November 18, 7:15 PM
Alderman Lesyna – Ordinance 889 – annexation of city property, land around water tower and sewer plant. Land was never annexed, not part of the city. Alderman Lesyna made a motion to approve. Alderman Temple seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
Department Heads – Tina – Lisa was in, she is balanced
Chief Siemson – one officer in training, working on ordinance violations, thank you to Christy Ritter and Tanya Fordahl for assisting in the Bordertown Hauntings.
Scott – new clarifier is in, seems to be working well. The blower is out, hoping for a repair. The big blower is down also. Bills have been submitted for electrical. They are working on leaves, stop date potentially November 13 due to being shorthanded. Streets and alley requesting leaves to not put leaves in the alley or on the street.
Treasurer report –
MAYORAL REPORT – time for the insurance to renew. Mayor is suggesting to stay with the same company, looking at a 12% increase with a total premium of $203925.00 for the year. This will be split between 3 accounts and make payments. Alderman Lesyna made motion to approve. Alderman Temple seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
City Hall computers need to be replaced, $2216.00 to replace the two computers with Windows 11. Alderman Cook made motion to approve. Alderman Temple seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
There was a meeting with Elite House of Sober Living. There was a panel with Steve Gross, Tanya Fordahl, Tom Temple, Chief Siemson and a few other residents that met with them. They have decided to move on and find another location.
Baxter Woodman – meeting with mayor on Wednesday. Alderman Lesyna requested a cost comparison between Aqua and keeping the city water.
Mayor requested to move into executive session, possibly to come out for business. Alderman Cook made motion to move to into executive session. Alderman Lesyna seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Returned to open session 8:16 PM
