Robin Kelly, a U.S. Congress member representing Illinois' 2nd district since 2013, recently expressed her views on several issues through social media posts. Kelly has been an active voice in politics, having replaced Jesse Jackson Jr. and previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
On February 8, 2025, Robin Kelly criticized the current administration's rhetoric regarding public health measures. She stated, "When this Administration spreads harmful rhetoric that undermines proven public health measures, millions are at risk." She urged the Senate to reject RFK Jr.'s nomination and emphasized the need for leaders who prioritize community protection.
On February 9, 2025, Kelly acknowledged the contributions of Black nurses during a recent event. She remarked on their efforts by saying "This week, I honored Black nurses for their incredible work on the frontlines — saving lives while advancing cultural competency in medicine." She expressed optimism about addressing health inequities and enacting meaningful change.
In a tweet dated February 10, 2025, Kelly reflected on a historical protest at Rainbow Beach in Chicago. She recounted how nearly one hundred activists challenged segregation there on July 7, 1961. Her post read: "Rainbow Beach was one of Chicago’s most segregated public spaces... Their strength sparked a new era of protest in the city’s fight for freedom."
