Robin Kelly, a prominent U.S. Congress member representing Illinois’ 2nd district since 2013, has lately turned to social media to voice her concerns on recent administrative decisions. On April 9, 2025, Kelly addressed a series of grievances via her Twitter account, focusing on the actions of certain government officials and their implications.
On the afternoon of April 9, Robin Kelly took issue with what she perceives as a lack of accountability from RFK Jr., the health secretary, regarding layoffs and restructuring at the Health and Human Services Department. "RFK Jr. is a coward," she stated, recounting how she and colleagues from the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee had yet to receive any response after approaching the health department. She concluded her post by asserting that "Americans deserve better from the health secretary."
Later that day, Kelly shared concerns over a new appointment made by President Trump, focusing on the merger of military and law enforcement roles. In a tweet posted on April 9, she commented on the decision to have U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll also lead the ATF, implying further consolidation of military influence in law enforcement spheres. "By naming U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll to also lead the ATF, President Trump continues to militarize our law enforcement."
In a concurrent post, Kelly highlighted her concerns over the management shuffle within the ATF, criticizing the Trump administration's choice to have an individual split time between leadership roles as detrimental to the enforcement of gun safety laws. "The ATF needs a director dedicated to the job — not someone who will split time with another job," Kelly stated.
