Robin Kelly, a current U.S. Congress member representing Illinois' 2nd District, recently shared several thoughts on her social media platform. Kelly, who replaced Jesse Jackson Jr. in 2013, currently resides in Matteson and has been active in public service since her time in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.

On April 20, 2025, Robin Kelly extended her wishes for a joyful Easter celebration to all constituents in the Second District. "Happy Easter to all who celebrate in the Second District! I hope your day is full of joy with loved ones — and maybe an egg hunt or two."

The subsequent day, April 21, 2025, Kelly expressed her sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis. She acknowledged his compassionate efforts and significant impact globally. "Deeply saddened by the passing of Pope Francis. With a compassionate spirit, His Holiness used a healing hand to lift up the most vulnerable among us. His legacy will live on in hearts around the world. May he rest in peace."

Later that same day, Representative Kelly voiced a critique of current defense leadership, calling for a change at the helm of the U.S. military. "We need a serious civilian leader as the head of our military. Sec. Pete Hegseth was unqualified for the position as Secretary of Defense and has made it clear that he does not take the security of our nation seriously with repeated security failures. He must resign or be fired."

Congresswoman Kelly, aged 66, has a Bachelor's degree from Bradley University, which she obtained in 1977.
