Mary R. Wendling, age 73, from Kankakee, died on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Elmhurst Hospital. Born on June 26, 1951, in Chicago, she was the wife of William Wendling. Mary worked as an Elementary Assistant for Kankakee School District 111 and enjoyed hobbies such as bowling, reading, and traveling. She supported her husband in coaching and cherished time with family, friends, and grandchildren. A devoted parishioner of St. John Paul II, Mary is survived by her husband, son Frank, daughter Julie, brother Frank Vogel, and grandchildren. Visitation is set for April 15, 2025, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, with a funeral Mass at St. John Paul II-West Campus the following day. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Steger. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
