Robin Kelly, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 2nd district since 2013, has been vocal on social media about recent legislative developments and policy issues. Her tweets reflect her ongoing commitment to healthcare and gun regulation debates.

On May 14, 2025, Kelly highlighted a prolonged effort by Democrats to protect Medicaid from significant budget cuts proposed by Republicans. She stated, "For 26.5 hours through the night, Democrats remained vigilant, offering 33 amendments to protect Medicaid as Republicans jammed through their $880 billion cut." Kelly emphasized her resolve to continue opposing what she described as Republican efforts to undermine healthcare access for millions.

Two days later, on May 16, she shared an update regarding the legislative process concerning Medicaid cuts. She announced that Republicans had failed to advance President Trump's bill proposing substantial reductions in Medicaid funding out of the Budget Committee. In her tweet, she expressed readiness for future challenges: "GOOD NEWS: Republicans just failed to pass President Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' — the one with $880 billion cuts to Medicaid — out of Budget Committee."

In another post on May 16, Kelly addressed gun control issues following a decision by President Trump related to firearm regulations. She criticized the allowance of forced reset triggers without regulation: "Forced reset triggers allow semi-automatic guns to fire as rapidly as a machine gun." This statement underscores her concern over gun safety and regulatory measures.

Robin Kelly's tenure in Congress follows her service in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. Born in New York City in 1956 and residing in Matteson, she holds a BA from Bradley University.
