Robin Kelly, a U.S. Congress member representing Illinois’ 2nd district since 2013, shared her thoughts on social media recently. Her posts highlighted her commitment to Medicaid and paid tribute to a late colleague.
On May 20, 2025, Kelly posted about Kairo and his family. She emphasized the importance of Medicaid by stating: "This is Kairo and his family. When I fight for Medicaid, I fight to protect him and other children who depend on Medicaid to survive."
The following day, May 21, 2025, she expressed sorrow over the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly. In her message she wrote: "I am heartbroken to hear that my great colleague Congressman Gerry Connolly has passed. My condolences are with his entire family during this difficult time. Gerry was a dedicated public servant who relentlessly fought for his constituents, even as he battled cancer."
In another post on the same day, Kelly reflected on Connolly's impact and leadership qualities: "I witnessed Gerry's leadership and integrity when we served on the Oversight committee and passed bipartisan legislation together. His legacy will leave an outstanding and generational impact on our country."
Kelly replaced Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress in 2013 after serving in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. Born in New York City in 1956, she now resides in Matteson.
