Robin Kelly, U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 2nd congressional district, addressed health disparities, public safety policy, and economic concerns in a series of posts on October 2, 2025.
In her first post of the day, Kelly highlighted racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes and called for legislative action: "Black women face a 41% higher breast cancer mortality rate than white women. Young Black women are hit hardest. That’s why we need the Nancy Gardner Sewell Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act, led by my friend @RepTerriSewell. We can’t afford to wait." (October 2, 2025).
Later that afternoon, she criticized federal law enforcement and military presence in Chicago while urging investment in violence prevention programs: "ICE doesn’t belong in Chicago. Neither does the National Guard. Our communities need investment and compassion—not intimidation and fearmongering. President Trump must restore violence prevention funding which is proven to reduce crime and build up communities, not drag them" (October 2, 2025).
In her final post of the day, Kelly commented on recent political developments affecting local economies: "The Big Ugly Law hurts everyone except billionaires. The Republican shutdown doubles the pain on hardworking Americans. Local businesses deserve better than Republican chaos." (October 2, 2025).
Kelly has represented Illinois’s 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013 and has consistently secured re-election by wide margins over multiple cycles.
