Momence approves police, school info sharing agreement

Momence

The city of Momence has approved an intergovernmental information agreement between its schools and the Momence Police Department to mutually share information on students who get into trouble.

Incidents such as drug use, fights, truancy and curfew violations would be reported by police to school officials or the other way around.

The City Council voted 6-2 to approve the agreement, with Alderman Diann Denton abstaining and Alderman David Cook voting no.

The council also voted unanimously to approve two spending measures for local improvements. One would use $49,000 of TARP funds to help make improvements on Mechanic Street. The other would allocate $56,000 for federal engineering services for improvements on East Washington Street.
