The village of Manteno board of trustees met on Oct. 19 at the Village Hall.

Mayor and Village President Tim Nugent announced an ordinance authorizing the village's purchase of railroad property east of the town. Nugent said the acquisition will help the village attract economic development.

The trustees also approved new contracts and permits. The Planning and Zoning department approved a Special Use Permit for Countryside Investment Group to build an animal hospital on South Creek Drive that's expected to be finished sometime in the spring.

The village's Public Works and Utilities department announced an agreement with Donohue and Associates to help the village meet new Environmental Protection Agency requirements for nutrient and mercury level management.

Trustee Joel Gesky announced that the completed audit from the last fiscal year is available online and at Village Hall.

Trustee Todd Crockett was absent from the meeting.
