The Village of Manteno president and board of trustees voted Dec. 7 to fully abate the 2015 tax for the waterworks and sewerage alternative revenue source.
In May of 2012, the board voted to issue an amount of general obligation waterworks and sewerage refunding bonds not to exceed $2,100,000 and levy a direct annual tax to pay the principal and interest on those bonds.
As the village has funds to now pay the principal and interest on those bonds, the tax is no longer needed and has been abated in full.
The vote was unanimous.
