The Kankakee County Board approved amendments Jan. 12, correcting the county's voting precinct changes.
The county consolidated voting precincts in Momence, Pembroke and Kankakee last June but was required by local attorneys to adjust some of the language in the original resolutions to specify the boundaries of each precinct and the location of its polling place.
Board members discussed the discrepancy the timing of these amendments would create for some voters' voting cards, which were not able to be changed to reflect the amendments before early voting started. Council member Samuel Payton asked to revisit the issue at the board's May meeting, but Chairman Michael Bossert would only agree to revisiting the issues sometime after the state's primary elections.
The board also announced an opening on the Kankakee Housing Authority and an opening on the Kankakee County Farmland Assessment Review Committee.
