The Manteno board of trustees approved an amendment Dec. 21 that will require developers to use LED lighting in all new subdivisions.
The ordinance specifies a particular General Electric lighting product, though it also makes an allowance for any other product deemed equal or better.
Other details spelled out are the required height of the light pole, the distance of its extension over the street, the material it should be made from, required setback distance from the curb and the locations where the lights must be installed.
