Manteno is moving forward with plans to redesign the downtown area of Second Street, following the approval of a design services agreement with Hitchcock Design Feb. 1.
The 4-0 vote advances plans generally expected to make the area greener, more walkable and more attractive for hanging out.
Hitchcock will draft schematics to be presented to the board at a later date.
The board also approved a 99-year lease to Landmark Dividend for the land beneath the cell tower at 28 W. Cook St. The lease is valued at $350,000.
Trustees Wendell Phillips, Timothy Boyce and Todd Crockett were absent.
