Designer Styles will get a boost from the village of Manteno to renovate the facade of its salon at 45 N. Main St.
The village will provide up to $23,130 toward the facade improvements, which is part of the village's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Renovation Program that helps businesses located on Main Street, Oak Street and Locust Street make renovations that improve the character of downtown Manteno.
In exchange for taking the grant money, businesses agree to adhere to a set of design guidelines that include an earth toned color palette and historical architecture detailing.
The village provides the money as an investment in and wager on the value the improvements will add to the TIF district's property values.
The grant was passed by a 5-0 vote.
Trustee Wendell Phillips was absent.
