Kankakeecitylogo

Legislation to change city codes and sell certain property surpluses were among the topics discussed at the Kankakee City Council meeting held Feb. 16.

The council voted on an ordinance amending Chapter 34 of Kankakee's city code, regarding sewer rates, solid waste, garbage and rubbish as well as an ordinance amending Article 27 of the municipal code involving the composition of the police department.

There were also ordinances declaring property surpluses of the Kankakee Police and the Kankakee Fire Department that authorized their sales.

Additional items on the agenda included a resolution allowing the mayor to certify the abatement of bond levies for bonds previously issued under the city's full faith and credit and a motion to reconsider Cornerstone Services' request for a conditional use permit to create and operate a community family residence at 1401 Navajo Court.
