Aqua Illinois' $15 million investment to ensure quality in upcoming years

Budget 08

According to a recent announcement, Aqua Illinois has made a $15 million investment in the Kankakee Region Water Treatment Plant.

The investment will be comprised of improvements that will be implemented over the upcoming two years and are part of Aqua’s capital plan for 2016, during which time $10 million will be set aside for system upgrades to Kankakee Division’s water distribution practices.

It is stated that the improvements will lead to a greater level of reliability for the Joseph Donovan Regional Water Treatment Plant, which is located in the City of Kankakee.

Additionally, the investment will aid in the plant’s key treatment processes and therefore aid the economic growth of the county itself.

“For more than 100 years, Kankakee families and employers have received high-quality, filtered and softened water from the Kankakee River, one of the cleanest rivers in the Midwest," Craig Blanchette, president of Aqua Illinois, said.

Blanchette believes that the investments will aid in continued customer care, delivering both the needed quantity and quality of water.
