KCC's Lifelong Learning Institute offers several classes, other activities

From politics to pine cones, posies to painting, Kankakee Community College’s Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) is serving up a varied menu of activities for this month and in December.Looking at America’s major generation groups, “Age Matters” will convene 10-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in KCC’s Room D123 for just $7.

Specializing in affordable noncredit programs, LLI encourages interactive learning, with lessons ranging from a few hours to multiple sessions. “A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Racing,” a free class, will feature Art Suprenant sharing his experiences in the high-speed racing industry, having worn many hats, 1-2:30 p.m. Nov. 15, in KCC’s Room D123.

Participants can register for one, two or all three dates for an acrylic painting class, 'Paint With the Tipsy Gypsy" Thursday, Nov. 22 and/or Dec. 8. All sessions are 1-3 p.m. in KCC’s Room D151; sessions cost $49 each, including supplies.

Candle centerpieces are planned for LLI’s floral design class, with fresh greens, pine cones and more. Class meets 1:30-3:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at KCC’s North Extension Center Room N105. The $57 cost includes fresh flowers and all materials; attendees should bring garden gloves and pruning shears.

Finally, a special all-day holiday shopping trip to Skokie is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Dec. 9. The $32 fee includes chartered bus fare to Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center. Certain cancellation rules apply. Additionally, pickup and departure details will be mailed prior to the trip.
