Sumner ranked 820th in state in lottery ticket sales for March 2016

The City of Sumner had the 820th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of March 2016 -- up 2 spots from its February ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Sumner was $4.06 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kankakee Times, Sumner generated $12,917.50 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in March 2016, compared to $12,558.50 in March 2015.

The City of Sumner is in Lawrence County, and has a population of 3,183, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in March 2016 was $12,377.35.

Sumner's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #1955 located at 315 N Christy Ave, Sumner, IL 62466.

Caseys Gen Store #1955 generated 100 percent of Sumner's March 2016 lottery ticket sales and 11 percent of Lawrence County's sales that month, which was $123,773.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top three cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lawrence County in 2015 were Lawrenceville, Bridgeport and Sumner.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
