Hoekstra Transportation has moved to a new location on Eastgate Industrial Parkway in Kankakee that gives the company more than double the space of its previous home, according to a press release.
The move, which came after 25 years at its St. Anne location, was completed on Aug. 18. The company said it will allow the expansion of its regional fleet of large tractors and trailers from Peterbilt and International.
President Steve Hoekstra told the Daily Journal that operations have expanded from 15,000 to 32,000 square feet, and although the company won't use all the space immediately, it will serve it well for the future.
The company currently has 613 employees.
Hoekstra also said proximity to Interstate 80 and Chicago were important considerations for thecompany, which has an operating area of 500 miles from the Chicago area, according to the company website.
An open house is scheduled for Sept. 10 to show off the new location at 613 Eastgate Industrial Parkway to members of the community and customers.
