Momence Community Unit School District 1 Board met June 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Roll Call The Regular Session of the Board of Education, Momence Community Unit School District #1, Momence, Kankakee County, was held at the District Office located at 400 N. Pine on Monday evening, June 26, 2017. President Brent Prairie called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

The following members answered to roll call, Carl Ecker, Coley Halpin, Sandra Illum, Brent Prairie, Keith Zelhart and Kristen Brucato.

Closed Session It was moved by Keith Zelhart and seconded by Sandra Illum adjourn to closed session at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the appointment employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2©. Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (2).

Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular District has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the District finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the closed meeting minutes. 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (11).

On roll call Mrs. Illum voted “yea”, Mrs. Brucato “yea” Mr. Prairie “yea” Mr. Zelhart, “yea”, Mr. Ecker “ yea” and Mr. Halpin “yea”.

Motion carried 6-0

Reconvene It was moved by Sandra Illum and seconded by Carl Ecker to reconvene to regular session at 6:43 pm

On roll call Mr. Prairie voted “yea”, Mr. Zelhart “yea”, Mr. Ecker “yea”, Mr. Halpin “yea”, and Mrs. Illum “yea” and Mrs. Brucato “yea”.

Resolution It was moved by Keith Zelhart and seconded by Sandra Illum to approve the Motion to approve the Certification of Minutes and Resolution abating the working cash fund of Community Unit School District Number 1, Kankakee County, Illinois. (Working Cash Fund to Transportation Fund) $588,000.00 On roll call Mrs. Illum voted “yea”, Mr. Prairie “yea”, Mr. Zelhart “yea”, Mrs. Brucato “yea”, Mr. Ecker “yea”, and Mr. Halpin “yea”.

Mea Settlement It was moved by Keith Zelhart and seconded by Sandra Illum to approve the settlement agreement between the Board of Education and the MEA (Transfers of teachers) On roll call Mr. Prairie voted “yea”, Mr. Zelhart “nay”, Mrs. Brucato “nay” Mr. Ecker “yea”, Mr. Halpin “yea”, and Mrs. Illum “yea”.

School Board:

Member It was discussed and decided to not run an advertisement in the newspaper for a new board member, but to contact the Regional Office of Education (Dr. Gregg Murphy) to find an additional board member.

Soccer Fields Discussion on the Van Drunen Soccer Field Proposal, (design)

School District

Truck It was moved by Keith Zelhart and seconded by Coley Halpin to purchase the truck from the city of Momence for $4500.00 for the school district.

On roll call Mr. Prairie voted “yea”, Mr. Zelhart “yea”, Mr. Ecker “yea”,

Mr. Halpin “yea”, and Mrs. Illum “yea” and Mrs. Brucato “yea”.
