Kankakee Community College Police offers winter safety tips

Winterweather 1000x667

The Kankakee Community College Police Department has provided suggestions for staying safe during the winter months in Illinois.

The KCC Police said that when driving in winter weather, time is important - as in, drivers should take their time and leave early for their destination. Also, the vehicle being used for the trip should have sufficient gas in its tank; the KCC Police recommends the tank be at least half full when starting out.

In addition to making sure road conditions are safe for travel, drivers should be appropriately dressed and have the necessary items available, such as blankets and devices that can jump a car battery.

And drivers are reminded to have their cellphones well charged when hitting the road.

Go to kcc.edu/safety or call the KCC Police Department at 815-802-8189 for more information. Call 911 or the aforementioned number to report safety concerns or a crime on campus.
