Herscher Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met June 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Education:

The special meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board President D. Emling. Roll Call: P. Daly, D. Emling, J. Hastings, L. Rewerts, D. Ruder, S. Sullivan, Supt. Decman, LMS Principal M. Chavers,

Maintenance Director L. Houberg, reporter from the Herscher Pilot, and other visitors.

New Business

A motion was made by P. Daly and was seconded by J. Hastings to award bid for Building Demolition and Utility Relocation at Limestone Middle School to Johnson Downs (Kankakee, IL) for the amount of $340,000. P. Daly, aye; D. Emling, aye; J. Hastings, aye; L. Rewerts, aye; D. Ruder, abstain, S. Sullivan, aye.

Ayes 5 Nays 0 Abstain 1

A motion was made by D. Ruder and was seconded by S. Sullivan to approve the Treasurer Surety Bond for Paula Kruse ($2,750,000) eff. 6-1-2018. P. Daly, aye; D. Emling, aye; J. Hastings, aye; L. Rewerts, aye; D. Ruder, aye, S. Sullivan, aye.

Ayes 6 Nays 0

Board Member J. Powers joined the meeting at 6:15 p.m.

Other: Discussions regarding difficult to fill positions: counselors, social workers, speech pathologists and possible incentives; also the Strength & Conditioning Coach position at HHS.

Brick on base of greenhouse started; going well.
