Village of Bradley Insurance & Finance Committee met April 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Members Present: Chairperson Allen, Trustee Gadbois and Trustee Barber

Others Present: Mayor Adams, Trustee Balthazor, Trustee Redmond and Trustee Watson. Absent: none

The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm. There was a presentation on the Convention and Visitors Bureau by Kelsey McGrath, Mileen Joines and Attorney Joe Cainkar. Bradley needs to approve the agreement so they can receive matching state funds. Trustee Barber asked about the Bike 609 program.

Public Comment –Alyssa Gunter, 296 S. Forest, Bradley, said more activities were needed in the area. Chuck Burke, 564 Juniper, Bradley, said he had concerns about the CVB and the budget. Tom Spellman, 135 N. Kinzie, Bradley, said there are no funds for businesses to improve their areas or to be promoted.

Trustee Watson said he didn’t get a packet of information before the meeting from the CVB because he’s not on the finance committee.

Trustee Gadbois gave a review of the CVB history and urged the board to approve the agreement and continue working together.

A short term budget was suggested by Trustee Allen to give the incoming board the ability to decide the budget and staff did not want to do it.

Remaining village special funds were reviewed.

OPEB was discussed. It will run out of funds in 2023 and Treasurer Romo said he wants to “burn” the fund down to help the budget. Trustee Watson said he opposes that idea.

Budget timeline was discussed.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 7:59 pm by Trustee Barber and seconded by Trustee Gadbois. All were in favor.
