Kankakee Valley Theatre Association issued the following announcement on June 5.
This summer finds theatre professionals ‘taking a bow’ alongside local businesses as they share the spotlight with Kankakee Valley Theatre Association’s Capital Campaign: Breaking the Fourth Wall.
The Carrier Corporation has joined resources with Goodberlet Home Services to provide a unique, theatrical experience for the audience. Exclusively designed to spotlight the contributions made by local businesses as they enhance the arts within Kankakee County, these sponsors are setting the stage for professional theatre excellence.
In support of our KTVA mission, we’re excited to have professional actor, singer and versatile entertainer Wayne Powers lend his talents to the lead role of Willie Clark for KVTA’s authentic production of Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys.”
Wayne’s show business career spans over 50 years and every medium from theatre and nightclubs to music, radio, and network television including legendary shows like “Laverne & Shirley”, “Full House”, and starring for two hit seasons in his own NBC sitcom, “13 East.” For more about Mr. Powers’ vast experiences in the entertainment field, you can visit his website at www.waynepowers.com.
Our cast of professional actors and local thespians will bring this classic Neil Simon comedy to the stage under the creative directorship of Rodger Allen Jones, a recent winner of a Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2019 Branson International Film Festival. To learn more about the Director, visit his Facebook group at Rodger Allen Jones- Actor, Singer, Director, Acting Coach.
“The Sunshine Boys” is considered by many to be Neil Simon’s best, and funniest, comedy. This production will take place in KVTA's Black Box Theatre from July 26-28 and August 3-4, 2019.
