Kankakee County Sheriff issued the following announcement on June 1.
After a county-wide assessment from local law enforcement agencies, it appears that most of the large gatherings have since dispersed. Law enforcement agencies throughout Kankakee County will maintain a large police presence for the time being and will continue to monitor any gatherings that arise.
At this time, we have received no reports of any looting taking place and almost all of the gatherings reported throughout the Kankakee County appear to have remained peaceful.
While the temporary shelter-in-place recommendation is being lifted, we continue to urge area motorists/residents to remain vigilant and peaceful. Let’s work together to maintain the peace and safety of our communities.
