Kankakee County Community Services Committee met March 17.

1. Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by the Committee Vice Chairperson, Ms. Parker , at 9:03 a.m.

Quorum not present.

4. Approval of Minutes: February 18, 2020

Since there is not a quorum, the minutes will be tabled to the next meeting.

5. County Clerk – Dan Hendrickson

 Monthly Report

There were no comments by Dan Hendrickson. The reports will be approved at the March Finance Committee meeting.

6. Assessor – Erich Blair

• Monthly Report

Erich Blair commented on social distancing and there is not an urgency to file for 2020 exemptions and recommends people to call before coming in.

Mr. Blair advised that his hours on operation are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday thru Friday. The number to contact for his office is 815-937-2945

Ms. Parker encouraged the public to view the county’s website for evolving information.

7. Recorder – Lori Gadbois

• Monthly Reports

Ms. Parker advised that the report will be tabled until the next meeting.

Ms. Gadbois stated that her department is taking extra steps to assist in the COVID-19 pandemic. Extra cleaning and keeping the door propped so nobody has to touch the door to open.

Ms. Gadbois reviewed the report with the committee.

Mr. Snipes wished Ms. Gadbois a happy birthday.

8. Animal Control – Kari Laird

 Monthly Report

Ms. Parker advised that the report will be tabled until the next meeting.

Ms. Laird stated that there has been extra cleaning to protect the public, but other than that there is nothing to report.

Ms. Parker advised that there have been many compliments about her office.

9. Animal Welfare Advisory Committee – Tinker Parker

 Monthly Update

Ms. Parker stated that Ms. Laird made a suggestion regarding the reckless dog owner ordinance and they are forwarding that information to the State’s Attorney’s office for review.

Ms. Parker advised that the AWAC meetings will be moved to the Sheriff’s Department room instead of the county building.

10. New/Old Business

Mr. Sirois advised the committee that the PZA Committee meeting will be cancelled for March and the only meetings that will take place is the Finance Committee meeting on March 26th and all reports will be tabled to the Finance Committee meeting and approved at the April County Board meeting.

Mr. Sirois stated that the county website will be updated and board members should watch their emails for more information.

11. Adjournment

Mr. Kerkstra made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:19 a.m., and Mr. Snipes seconded it. Motion carried, meeting adjourned
