City of Watseka Water/Wastewater Committee met Feb. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Cahoe, Barragree, Marcier, Miller, Alderwoman Ulfers and Musk, Mayor Allhands

ABSENT: Aldermen Garfield and Rushbrook

GUESTS: Water Superintendent Greg Marks, Robinson Engineer Keith Mullholland

Alderman Cahoe opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. There was no public comment. Water Superintendent Greg Marks reported on the following projects:

Drinking Water -Wells: Greg stated he has met with Keith Mulholland with Robinson Engineering and Peerless Midwest about test wells. Each committee member was given a handout from Robinson with a list of 8 possible locations for new wells. Mr. Mulholland suggested the 2 best possible locations for wells would be at 1980 E Road which the city doesn’t own and 1850 E Road and Veterans Parkway and this site the city already owns. The cost to do a test well is $30,000 approximately. If the company drills more than 1 time at a location it will not be $30,000 each. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to move forward with doing a test well at County Highway 31 & Veterans Parkway.

Waste Water: Maintenance and repairs were done on the main lift pumps. All monthly testing and reporting is complete.

Miscellaneous: The new Kutoba has been received and the plow has been installed.

Work Report: 61 locates, 23 shut offs/20 turned back on, 5 meter changes

Alderman Cahoe makes a motion to adjourn at 7:01 pm and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 7-0.
