Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met Feb. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

6:35PM Meeting called to Order/ Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all present except Ms. Wiedl

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 1/18/22 meeting

       Motion: Morgan       2nd: Coats       Motion Carried 4-0-1   Bruni abstaining

No Public Comments

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <General Fund $32,136.36, Payroll <1/22/22 $15,794.02, <1/21/22 $14,688.93, <1/24/22 $8,942.69

       Motion: Morgan       2nd: Raloff    Motion Carried 4-1-0     Veldhuizen, no

   Immediately after the vote was taken, Pres. Hawkins asked Ms. Veldhuizen if there was a reason why she has voted no to pay the bills the last several meetings. Asked if it was particular items, where they could be line itemed out, or other reasons for such a vote.  Ms. Veldhuizen stated that she will not answer such a question in an open forum but would speak in private. Pres Hawkins replied that she does have the right to ask at the meetings; again Ms. Veldhuizen refused to answer, stating it was for private conversation, not public. 

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Streets & Alleys, Coats: Mr. Coats and Comm. Detloff spoke of a couple recent main breaks they assisted Aqua, and a cut phone line nearby. Had a meeting with Trustee Morgan, discussing the budget, and future plans of expenditures. Handed a sheet of activities of the recent past the maintenance dept. has been doing, and plans

Finance, Morgan: Reported the budgeted finances seem to be in line with projections, and is in the beginning phase on working on next year’s fiscal budget

Sewer & Garbage, Veldhuizen: no report

Building & Grounds, Bruni: Fest Meeting 2/23 at the Community Center, tentative Oktoberfest date Oct 7-9, 2022, date not finalized yet

Ordinance & Insurance, Raloff:

*Motion to accept Resolution R-2-22-1 for Flanagan’s Pub, for use of TIF funds for development

       Motion: Raloff      2nd: Morgan       Motion Carried 5-0-0

Law Enforcement, Wiedl: absent, no report

Pres Hawkins:   Sargent Castello was sworn to office by Clerk Dillman

*Motion to approve Castillo wage increase to $22.71/hr effective 2/01/22

Discussion on using Covid Funds, a proposal developed by Ms. Veldhuizen was presented, discussed

A draft of the quarterly newsletter to be distributed, was reviewed

No Executive Session
