In a June 11 Facebook post, Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) celebrated the Relay for Life in Kankakee County.
"I had a wonderful time at the Relay for Life of Kankakee County event today! It was a great turnout for a great cause!" Haas posted.
The event was held at Bishop McNamara Catholic High School on Brookmont Boulevard in Kankakee.
Relay for Life of Kankakee County is presented by Nucor Steel Kankakee & Riverside Healthcare. There was a disc jockey, food, kids' zone, luminaria celebration, theme laps, prizes, survivors activities and more.
The first lap was designated the Survivor Lap because it was taken by dozens of local cancer survivors alongside honorary co-chair for the Relay for Life of Kankakee County, Peggy Sue Munday. Fellow honorary co-chair Jim Rowe was also there.
The event raised at least $91,891
