Illinois state Rep. Thomas M. Bennett (R-Gibson City) offered a civics lesson to students at Eureka Middle School and posted about the experience on Facebook recently.
In a Facebook post, Bennett offered his thanks to Ms. Cheri Ogg for the opportunity to speak to approximately 120 students at the school.
“Focused on branches of state/federal government, role of an Illinois State Representative, developing bills into laws and the need for everyone to understand the issues before voting,” he said in the post. “Major election November 8. Results will impact all of us. Please vote!”
Bennett recently visited the MIlford Oktoberfest, lauding the efforts of the event’s organizers.
“Milford was celebrating Milford Octoberfest Saturday!” he said in Facebook post earlier this month. “Beautiful weather! Hope you had the chance to play some bingo, talk with vendors and have some family fun. Live music. Great food! Face painting. Thank you to all the organizers!”
Bennett also visited the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant, a Kankakee Times report said. He discussed the future of energy in the state, noting that energy demand will only increase and state officials should be looking ahead.
The lawmaker got to check out wetland construction during a visit to a farm near Dwight, the Times reported. He opposed House Bill 3125, legislation that would require future construction to be “electric car-friendly” and also expand accessibility to charging stations.
