There may be a little more than two weeks until Christmas, but Illinois state Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) says there's still time to spread holiday cheer for children in need.
Haas encouraged her constituents to help children have a happy holiday by donating to the Toys for Tots drive in a December 7 Facebook post.
"There’s still time to donate toys to the Toys for Tots toy drive! Drop off donations of new unwrapped toys at my district office through this Friday," Haas wrote.
Back in mid-November, Haas announced details of the drive in a news release. This was the third year she hosted the drive. Haas encouraged people to join her "in this season of giving" by donating toys that will be gifted to children in need. Haas called Toys for Tots a "tremendous organization that really does a fantastic job with spreading holiday cheer" and said she was proud to be able to help.
There is a donation box in Haas' District Office on Court Street in Kankakee. Donations can be dropped off between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Information on the Toys for Tots Marine toy drive is available on the organization's website.
