Robert "Gene" Tinney | Clancy Gernon Funeral Homes - Bourbonnais

Robert Eugene "Gene" Tinney, of Bourbonnais, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center. Born on October 14, 1937, in South Chicago Heights, IL, to Robert D and Mary Tinney, he married Judith A Lain in 1961, sharing over 63 years of marriage.

As a member of the Army National Guard and Maternity BVM Church, Gene was a dedicated teacher at KCC and founder of the Machine Tool Certification Program. He later owned ET Machine Tool Inc. for over 34 years, starting from sharpening tools in his garage to building a successful business. Known for his devotion to family, Gene cherished time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. His passion for machining was evident in his successful career.

Aside from his work, Gene enjoyed restoring cars, being part of various car clubs, and attending car shows. His annual trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats for speed time trials was a highlight. He is survived by his wife Judith, daughters Lisa McKnight, Gina Bernhardt, and Julie Hebert, and grandchildren Zachary, Bailey, Max, Rachel, Leah, and Evan. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Oliver.

Visitation on January 14, 2025, and Funeral Services on January 15, 2025, will be held at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
